Creating a strong password does not have to be difficult. For many, on the other hand, it is a challenge to remember several different strong passwords. Especially when you need to have a unique password for each website. We've gathered some tips along the way:

Use a passphrase

To make it easier to remember, we recommend using phrases or entire sentences as a password. Phrases are much easier to remember than arbitrary combinations of individual letters and numbers. Sentences contain natural spaces and symbols, which make the password stronger.

Create a password recall rule that allows you to create variations over a phrase that ensures unique passwords for each service. It will then be easier to remember the password for you, but avoid using references directly to the service to which the password is used. The password phrase should:
       - be as long as possible, at least 5 words or 16 characters
       - be unique to each website / user account
       - contain numbers, symbols, spaces and uppercase / lowercase letters
       - preferably do not include words / numbers that can be associated with you            or the service the password applies to.

Example of a good password: "One-octopus-has-8-arms"

Don't Use Leaked Passwords

On the Internet, there is a service that checks if your email address, user account or password has been leaked through known data breaches. The service is called "Have I been pwned" (link to service here).

By visiting this service you can check for yourself if your email address, username or password is in the listings. Brevio will check this automatically for you when you create a new password.

Enable 2-Step Verification

One of the most important security measures you can use when signing in to Brevio is 2-Step Verification. 2-step verification is an added level of security for your user account, which makes it difficult for others to access your account. Your online security therefore increases significantly with 2-step verification and we recommend everyone to activate this as soon as possible.
